A libertarian is...

A while back, my eighty-something mom asked me the difference between libertarians, liberals and conservatives.  I told her liberals want to make everybody act like liberals; conservatives want to make everybody act like conservatives; and libertarians want liberals to be free to act like liberals and conservatives to be free to act like conservatives.

Maybe libertarians should try to describe their philosophy by saying “libertarians believe in the free speech that liberals used to believe in, and the economic freedom that conservatives used to believe in.”
